CHINABRATION 2012

Chinabration. Such a funny word yet such FUN! This was Archie's second year performing with the Blacksburg Chinese school at the Virginia Tech annual Chinese American Student Association event. Last year, they had a Kung Fu Panda theme. This year, they did somewhat of a spoof on a classic Chinese legend. The kids work really hard on their dance for weeks before the performance. They danced to a song called "Celebrate." I really liked the lyrics to the chorus. I'll write my translation at the bottom.

Here's what the hard work produced:

Grace before the show:

Celebrate!
Every dream receives a blessing
Every tear becomes a treasure
Every light is a candle of promise
Every day is worth CELEBRATING!

Pretty Sure There Won't Be Anymore White Stuff This Year!

Welcome to SPRING! It's been lovely weather here lately, and I'm officially predicting NO MORE SNOW for Blacksburg! To celebrate, I thought I'd post some pics from one of our only snows of the year. The kids love to go sledding on this HUGE hill near our house. Grace insists on going all by herself. She looks so tiny flying down that big hill! At least she can come back up it!

Archie and his best friend.

Hunter and I like to get in on the sledding action, too.

No snowmen this year...maybe next.

The Joys of...HIBERNATION!

OK! We're not exactly hibernating through this not-very-cold-winter over here, but I have managed to catch a few moments of the kids' shut eye on camera.

How funny! Grace climbed out of her bed one day at nap, and I found her sound asleep on the floor.
Archie prefers napping on our bed when he naps (usually only 2-3 days/week). He always burrows under as many blankets as possible. No worries about him staying warm.

What do we do before bed? Bath time, of course! (Well, OK, not every night...)

Art projects:
Bedtime snacks:
And teeth brushing. (No, Grace doesn't brush by herself, but she insists on having a turn.)
