Another Fun Summer Swimming with the K.C. Waves

Grace takes the blue ribbon for her 26.55 second freestyle swim!

Archie met his personal goal of swimming the 25-yard freestyle race in less than 20 seconds (19.96). Plus, he won second place in the most competitive event. (Second place is the highest he's ever gotten for any individual event although his free relay team has placed second several times and even swam in 1m15s one week!)

By the last meet, Grace set another personal best of 26.02 in freestyle. (She placed first in three of five meets and second in the other two.)

Grace also did well in backstroke earning one first place, one second place, two third places, and one fifth place. Her fastest time was 31.5 seconds.

Archie totally looks the part. He's a little beach bum with bleach blonde hair, a super tan, and visible abs. Here he is stretching a bit before an event.

Archie swam fly in every meet and never DQ'd. He was terrified he would DQ during time trials and really built his strength as the season went on. By the last meet, he got a time of 31.25 seconds.

The first meet was a great season starter. We called it the best meet in the DeJarnette family swim history bar none at the time. (I think the last meet ended up even better, though.) During the first meet Archie got third in both back and fly.

The fun doesn't stop with the last race. It was pure joy for Grace and her friend, Anna, to help Coach Stephen bring in the lane lines after the last home meet.

Happy 12th Anniversary Smoky Mountain Opry Style

Hunter and I were so happy for an afternoon getaway anniversary date at the Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas show in Pigeon Forge, TN. A big thanks to Memaw and Papa for managing Archie's diabetes and watching all three kids.

What a beautiful live nativity that helped keep the focus of Christmas on Christ!

What the 18 Month Sleep Regression Really Does to Babies...

Well, Folks! We're somewhere around Day 10 of what's known as the 18-month-sleep regression. If you're not familiar with this phenomena, don't feel bad. I wasn't either until 10 days ago. Now I know it simply means the baby sleeps neither by day nor by night. Moms and Dads, you weren't thinking about sleeping either, were you? I know what the regression has done to me. Now we see the footage of what it's really doing to Grant.

Family Beach Trip 2015: Duck, NC

We had a blast this September on our first-ever combined family beach trip to Duck, NC. Hoping to make it an annual tradition.

We were so excited to make these pictures dressed in white on the ocean. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate (although I don't regret using the good weather days at the beginning of the trip to enjoy the beach!) There's always next year! The photo failure was almost ironic after I went to such lengths to make sure the kids matched because I forgot the suitcases with Archie's and Grace's clothes! (Packing fail.) Thankfully, friends and family helped out.

Archie was not shortchanged on birthday celebrations this year. Yet another eighth birthday party at the beach!

Good friends:

We love grandparents!

And siblings!

And having fun!

Our excursion to Jockey's Ridge let us see nature at its finest and give thanks to our Creator.
