Mi espanol es very bad

You don't need a Ph.D. in Spanish to read that, right?

Life without a computer is interesting in our modern era. It's been 1.5 weeks since a certain still beloved person under 3.5 feet dropped a chair on my computer abruptly ending it's life. Since the computer still turns on with the message "no operating system found", we're hopeful it's only the hard drive. Hunt's ordered some software to diagnose the problem, I occasionally use his computer in the meantime and read (novel idea?)

During the crash process I was in the process of downloading, yep, Spanish listening materials. I don't have a really good reason for deciding to re-take up Spanish. No travel plans, no Hispanic BFFs. I think I just need a new hobby here in Chantilly. Surely if I've learned Chinese, I can beef up my two year basics from high school...I don't know. I've been talking to our hotel maids in Spanish and sounding pretty dumb. I tell them "Yo (I) necesito practicar" then do a lot of pantomime. They get really excited and start jabbering faster than any human could possibly comprehend (with the exceptions of humans from Spain and Latin American countries, I guess).

No pics to post since I, well, lost the recent ones. (Everything through last month was, thankfully, backed up at Hunt's parents.) I think the newer ones are on my camera if I can motivate myself to go through them again without Photoshop to spruce them up. What did I do before that program?

Zoo Fun!

The free National Zoo is yet another wonderful thing about DC. So far, we've seen about half of it.

The highlight, of course, was the giant panda.

I like the flamingos. They're colorful.

Archie decided to strike a pose for the camera.

The theme of the week was bears so they had this cool exhibit with bear skulls and fur.

Memorial Day at the Community Fun Fest!

A local church held a free community fun fest for Memorial Day! They went all out with eight inflatable type toys (two regular bouncers, a huge "Boot Camp Challenge", a full climbing wall, a toddler maze bouncer, a water tag bouncer, a mechanical bull, and a Velcro wall you can jump up and stick to). They also provided a free hot dog lunch and popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. Pretty amazing! Archie loved the fire truck (that sprayed water on everyone and helped cool the day down) and getting to "drive" a real police car.

Shower from a fire truck:

After watching brother get a car painted on his cheek, Grace decided she was up for a ladybug.

Archie liked the mechanical bull. Ride 'em, Cowboy!

DC FUN!

We're living like tourists here. We've been to two Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo! On Friday, we took advantage of free-parking-after-four and headed to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space museum, a Smithsonian museum that houses all the air and spacecraft that don't fit into the Air & Space Smithsonian on Capitol Hill. Pretty huge!!!

I'll post pics of our zoo trip yesterday and Memorial Day festival soon.

Proof of our DC life

Not that anyone is doubting me, but what better proof could I offer that Hunter and I are NOW IN DC for the summer. Technically, we're in Chantilly, VA, but it's close enough to where visiting these dinos in the Smithsonian isn't too much of a trek.

We're enjoying our Northern Virginia life so far despite all four of us living in one room. There are some good things to be said for coziness, I guess :)
